Officers shoot, injure suspect following reports of active shooter in apartment near 64th and Sheridan

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — Milwaukee police officers shot and injured a suspect Tuesday night, after reports of an active shooter in an apartment building near 64th and Sheridan.

In a news conference, Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman said officers responded to the area just after 9 p.m. and were given a description of the suspect, said to be wearing a black ski mask.

While searching, the chief said officers heard gunshots and located a suspect matching the description in the second-floor stairwell. Two officers fired their weapons, striking the 20-year-old man.

Chief Norman said the suspect was arrested and taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
