[1] New Mexico emergency order spending surges 543% in five years – The State of New Mexico is paying hundreds of millions more than ever for emergency orders signed by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. That’s according to data presented to state lawmakers Tuesday. While there have been natural disasters leading to more spending, experts said there could be a better process to allocate those funds. In 2025, alone, the governor signed 417 executive orders, costing the state $304 million. Evaluators said that’s a 543% increase over the last five years.
[2] Albuquerque woman sentenced for her role in death of 2-year-old boy – An Albuquerque woman will spend time behind bars for her role in the death of a two-year-old boy. Last April, the baby’s mother left a gun on a sofa unattended when the boy got a hold of it and shot himself at an apartment near Gibson Blvd. and Yale Blvd. Angel Morales and another suspect took the gun and fled. In April, Morales was convicted of tampering with evidence charges. She was sentenced to two years behind bars.
