Before announcing their divorce, Jelly Roll and his wife, Bunnie XO, gave fans an intimate glimpse into their expansive Tennessee estate and the personal touches that made it home.
In a candid YouTube vlog posted six months prior to their separation, the American Music Award-winning artist showcased their farmhouse situated on a sprawling 500-acre property. The residence, a renovated barn affectionately dubbed a “barndominium,” reflected the couple’s unique lifestyle and vision.
The video captures Jelly Roll arriving at the freshly refurbished barn and inviting viewers inside. Dressed casually in a hoodie and ball cap, he appeared relaxed as he toured the space. At one point, he shared a warm moment with Bunnie, smiling together in their home-a scene that now contrasts with their recent decision to part ways.
Jelly Roll explained that he and Bunnie purchased the land while he was away on his 2024 Beautifully Broken Tour. This was his first visit to the property since the purchase was finalized.
“I came home for the first time in a long time. While we were gone, my wife and I purchased over 500 acres, and we closed on it when we were gone.
I have not been able to come to the land since we owned it, y’all. And this is my first time standing on this property as the owner of it,” he shared.
The acquisition held deep significance for the couple, tied to a poignant conversation Jelly Roll once had with his late father, Horace “Buddy” DeFord, who passed away from cancer in 2019. Reflecting on that memory, Jelly Roll recalled telling his father, “How come we never got a farm?” His father responded, “Son, it’s probably one of the mistakes I regret the most, is that I didn’t buy dirt.”
Now, six months after sharing this heartfelt moment with fans, Jelly Roll, 41, has filed for divorce from Bunnie. Official court records from Williamson County, Tennessee, show that he submitted the divorce papers on May 18. The documents state the couple separated on May 9, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
The timing of the split surprised many, coming just a week after the couple celebrated a milestone in their family life. They publicly supported Jelly Roll’s 18-year-old daughter, Bailee, at her high school prom. Bunnie affectionately referred to themselves on social media as “Maw & Paw of the Prom Queen” during the event.
In addition to Bailee, Jelly Roll has a 9-year-old son, Noah. Both children are from previous relationships, but Bunnie has been an active and involved stepmother throughout their lives.
