COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCSC) — The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has charged two men in an ongoing lottery fraud investigation.
SLED said Malachi Jamal Quesenberry, 24, and Trae Malik Yates, 31, are each charged with conspiracy to commit lottery fraud in connection with the case.
An arrest warrant says that Quesenberry, an employee of a Circle K in Summerville, conspired to defraud a victim on Jan. 11 by passing one instant scratch-off ticket multiple times and paying out the ticket without validating the ticket. Yates also, on Jan. 11, passed one instant scratch-off ticket multiple times and paid it out without validating it at the same Circle K where Quesenberry was an employee. This ticket was cashed out at another location by Yates. These actions both constituted a loss for the victim.
