Police, bomb squad officials called to downtown Charleston after grenade found

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — Charleston Police are investigating after a grenade was reported on a wall in the Pitt Street area of downtown Charleston on Wednesday evening.

Detective Sgt. Daniel Wilson confirmed that a grenade was located and that the United States Air Force possesses it.

A bomb squad was called to the scene to assess the item and secure the area. Several roads in the area were closed for a short time but have since reopened…
