Man sentenced after Greeneville police pursuit ends with crash, drugs thrown from car

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A Kingsport man has been sentenced to more than 20 years in prison after a 2024 police pursuit ended in a crash and a duffel bag containing more than 5 pounds of methamphetamine and fentanyl being thrown from the car.

The Department of Justice announced that Aaron Tyshawn Jackson, 27, of Kingsport and formerly of Chattanooga, was sentenced to 24 years in prison on Wednesday. A jury convicted Jackson in February of conspiracy to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl, conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, and two other drug-related offenses, the DOJ said.

According to the Department of Justice, during the trial, prosecutors presented evidence that Jackson had been purchasing large quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl in Chattanooga and distributing the drugs in Kingsport for years.

On October 22, 2024, after a trip to Chattanooga to purchase drugs, the DOJ said Jackson, who was not driving, and three other people were involved in an attempted traffic stop near Greeneville.
