FDNY responds to reported car fire on Staten Island Wednesday

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The FDNY responded to a car fire in Arden Heights on Wednesday morning.

At approximately 5:40 a.m., the FDNY received a 911 call of a car fire outside a gas station on Arthur Kill Road, between Arden Avenue and Carlyle Green, according to a spokesperson for the department.

The fire was extinguished and FDNY units left the area around 6:10 a.m., the spokesperson said.

The owner of the car told an Advance/SILive.com reporter that the fire was caused by the battery from a bubble-making toy in the trunk of his car…
