CLINTON, Miss. (WJTV) – Mississippi Christian University’s (MC) undergraduate elementary teacher preparation program has earned an A+ rating from the National Council on Teacher Quality (NCTQ) for its preparation of future teachers in reading instruction.
The recognition comes from the organization’s Teacher Prep Review: Decoding Progress in Reading Preparation report released June 9, 2026.

According to the report, MC prepares future teachers in all five components of scientifically based reading instruction: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension and vocabulary.
