IBERIA PARISH, La. (NEWS 15) — A Youngsville man died after his boat struck a tree along the west bank of the Delcambre Canal in Iberia Parish, according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
The victim was identified as Willis Fontenot Jr., 69, of Youngsville.
Officials reported agents were on patrol in the Delcambre Canal on Saturday, June 13, around 2 p.m., when they came across a boat that had hit a tree along the west bank of the canal. They said agents responded to the vessel and found Fontenot unresponsive on the back deck of the boat…
