Johnstown getting new roundabout along WCR 50 in 2027

Weld County will add a new roundabout northeast of Johnstown, part of an agreement with Johnstown and with Larimer County.

Plans call for beginning work in 2027 on a new roundabout at the intersection of Weld County Roads 50 and 13 – also known as Larimer County Road 14 and Colorado Boulevard in Johnstown. The work is part of an intergovernmental agreement between Weld, Larimer and Johnstown.

“Safety and efficiency are priorities when we build roundabouts, but they do have a significant cost,” said Jason Maxey, Weld County Commissioner Pro Tem. “We’re pleased to have Johnstown’s support as well as support of others to help offset the cost of an enhancement we believe will be beneficial for many years.”

The Town of Johnstown will contribute $2.6 million to the $14 million project, according to officials. Other project partners include the Colorado Department of Transportation — contributing more than $1.6 million; Larimer County — contributing nearly $17,000; and Weld County Public Works — managing project design and construction and contributing the remaining funding…
