Central Oregon goes under Red Flag warning as wildfire risk rises

Central Oregon is facing critical fire weather conditions in and around the Ochoco National Forest, stretching southwest to encompass Bend.

A Red Flag Warning was announced for the area on Wednesday and is expected to last from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Strong winds, low humidity and warm temps today have raised the risk of severe fires in the area. Expect northwestern winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph, which could quickly spread any fires in the area.

Washington, Multnomah, Clackamas and Yamhill counties, as well as areas in Southwest Washington including Vancouver were recently placed under burn bans. This comes as nearly half of all Oregon counties are under a drought emergency…
