Threat sends Albany JCC into lockdown, APD investigating

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)– Early Thursday morning, the Albany Police Department began investigating a threat against the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center. According to the police department, the threat caused a brief lockdown.

Officers said around 6:55 a.m., officers and K-9 units responded to the JCC for reports of a shooting threat. A preliminary investigation determined a staff member received an email threat around 12:25 a.m. stating that the JCC was going to get “shot up.”

After clearing the buildings and a sweep of the site, the JCC was deemed safe.

According to the police department, as a precautionary measure, officers will be conducting property checks throughout the day…
