An Iconic Diner Just Brought 24-Hour Dining Back To Downtown Nashville

Nashville’s night owls have a new place to land for late-night eats. Mel’s Drive-In, which opened on Second Avenue last fall, recently launched 24-hour service Thursdays through Saturdays, serving scratch-made diner classics steps from the bustle of lower Broadway.

While the neighboring honky-tonks are known to draw spirited crowds well into the wee hours, co-owner Colton Weiss says the atmosphere has so far been more lively than unruly.

“I worked a few graveyard shifts last weekend and haven’t seen anything too crazy,” says Weiss, who opened Mel’s Nashville with his brother, Chasen, and their father, Steven. “We’ve had 24-hour restaurants for more than 30 years in Los Angeles and San Francisco, so we know how it goes.”…
