Man ejected, killed during single-vehicle crash in western Iowa

LOVELAND, Iowa — Authorities say a man was ejected from his vehicle and killed Wednesday during a crash in western Iowa.

The Iowa State Patrol says troopers were called to the westbound lanes of Interstate 880 near the 9.6-mile marker, near Loveland, around 8 a.m. Wednesday on reports of a rollover crash with ejection.

Authorities say that at the time of the crash, a 2008 GMC Acadia was heading west when it left the interstate for an unknown reason and crashed into the north ditch. The driver and sole occupant, 31-year-old Dillion Michael Wood, of Harlan, was ejected from the vehicle.

ISP says Wood sustained fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. According to authorities, Wood was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The report states Wood has been transported to the State Medical Examiner…
