Omaha Police address violent day that left 6 dead in metro

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Omaha Police addressed the community Wednesday after four separate incidents claimed the lives of six people in what officials called a rare and tragic day for the metro.

“It’s a rare day for Omaha to have this many deaths,” Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said.

Two of the shootings happened overnight. The first occurred near 48th and Nicholas Street just after 1 a.m. Thirty minutes later, a man found both of his parents shot dead inside their home near 85th and Izard streets. A deadly apartment fire claimed the life of one near 115th street and West Dodge Road as well…
