Officer hurt after cruiser struck while responding to fallen pole near Fort Belvoir: Police

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Several lanes are closed near Telegraph Road in Fairfax County after vehicle crash on Friday morning, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Driver charged with DUI after man hit, killed on Little River Turnpike

Around 6:25 a.m. on June 19, officers were called to a roadway hazard near Richmond Highway and Belvoir Woods Parkway, near Fort Belvoir. An officer turned on their emergency lights to protect motorists from the hazard when the vehicle was struck from behind.

The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other driver was not injured and remained on scene. The driver was issued citations for reckless driving, driving without a valid driver’s license, no vehicle registration and no insurance.
