Country singer Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, recently revealed he was hospitalized in North Carolina due to a worsening sinus infection while on tour with Post Malone. In a TikTok video posted June 11, he shared that he sought treatment at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte after the infection caused significant facial swelling.
“I went to the hospital last night in Charlotte, North Carolina,” Jelly Roll said, expressing gratitude to the hospital staff for their care. Doctors prescribed medication and steroids to reduce the swelling, helping him recover enough to continue performing.
The illness impacted his tour schedule for the first time since joining Post Malone’s tour, preventing him from joining Malone on stage later in the evening for their duet on the song “Losers.” Despite this, Post Malone showed support by sending Jelly Roll a large bouquet of flowers with a note saying, “Get well soon, Mofo! Love Ya,” a gesture Jelly Roll described as a reflection of Malone’s genuine character.
“I love you Post. When I say on stage every night that Post Malone is the nicest human in the world, I’m not making that up,” Jelly Roll added. “He’s the most normal dude in the world.”
This health update comes shortly after news surfaced that Jelly Roll has filed for divorce from his wife, Bunnie Xo. The 41-year-old artist submitted divorce papers on May 18 in Williamson County, Tennessee, citing irreconcilable differences and listing May 9 as their separation date. Following the filing, Jelly Roll removed references to Bunnie Xo from his Instagram bio.
On June 16, Jelly Roll’s 18-year-old daughter, Bailee Ann, addressed the public’s attention on the divorce via TikTok, calling out the invasive focus on what she described as a private family matter. “I am disgusted at how invested everyone is in a very clearly private family matter,” she wrote.
