Bronx hitchhiker arrested after alleged carjacking in Seymour

SEYMOUR, Conn. (WTNH) — A Bronx man was arrested earlier this month after an alleged carjacking in Seymour in March, police said.

According to the Seymour Police Department, at approximately 8 a.m. on March 25, the victim had picked up a hitchhiker near the train station in Waterbury.

The hitchhiker, later identified as 26-year-old Franklyn Jose Diaz Arias, allegedly produced a handgun and carjacked the victim’s vehicle at gunpoint following a stop at Henny Penny gas station in Seymour.

Seymour police identified Diaz Arias through witness statements and surveillance video. He was arrested on June 9 in New York by the New York Police Department’s 19th Precinct after he was stopped in the stolen vehicle…
