Here are 9 Huntsville music venues for live + original music

Not knocking cover bands or tribute bands—they will always provide some darn good entertainment and create a fun vibe for a night out—but if you are searching for live original music around town, Huntsville does have multiple venues that host singer-songwriters, indie bands and musicians playing original music.

We polled our audience recently to tell us who their favorite local bands were, and we received a slew of suggestions, which shows the enthusiasm for original music here in the Rocket City. So if you want to see these bands play, we found some cool spots in town that host original music.

Goodbye Horses

This retro bar is brought to you by the owner of the popular Huntsville coffee shop, Gold Sprint. Hosting live music in a dive-bar setting, Goodbye Horses lets you “hide away” while checking out some cool live original tunes.

Tip Top Cafe

Widespread Panic, 311, Goo Goo Dolls, Collective Soul, Concrete Blonde and The Black Crowes are just a few of the bands that have played at the Tip Top Cafe, which recently reopened with the same dedication to hosting original music that the venue had in the 80s and 90s.

Mad Malts Brewing

The tap room at Mad Malts doubles as a fabulous venue for local live music. Some of the Rocket City’s best original bands play here regularly, which you can enjoy while sipping on a local craft brew.
