(FOX40.COM) — Questions surrounding a shelter safety tag practice took center stage Thursday during a meeting of the Stanislaus Animal Services Agency’s oversight board, known as the Joint Powers Authority, as animal advocates and shelter leadership offered conflicting accounts about how the system is being used.
Safety tags are extensions that give rescue organizations additional time to find placement for animals that might otherwise face euthanasia. Advocates say the practice has historically played a role in saving dogs and cats at the shelter.
