An Inverness man with a suspended license was arrested with heroin after being stopped at 7-Eleven.
A deputy observed 53-year-old David Howard Crosby driving a black 2008 Subaru hatchback westbound in Bushnell around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle had an expired registration as of April 6, and Crosby was known to have a suspended driver’s license.
Due to this, the deputy stopped him at 7-Eleven, 2460 W C 48. He asked Crosby for his license, registration and proof of insurance, to which he paused and was unable to provide any of these documents. A check of his driving history confirmed his license was still suspended, the report said.
Crosby advised that he had recently updated the insurance on the vehicle and consistently received mail on the matter, as well as correspondence from Citrus County Court. This indicated that he regularly checked his mail, so the deputy mentioned being sent notice of his driver’s license suspension.
