Methamphetamine found in vehicle of driver who lost license over unpaid traffic tickets

An Ocala man with a suspended license was arrested after being stopped with two baggies of methamphetamine.

A deputy observed 26-year-old Javaris DeAngelo Beard driving a gray Nissan Altima southbound in Oxford around 11:55 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle’s passenger-side headlight was not working, and its registration expired in 2025.

Due to this, the deputy stopped the vehicle at U.S. 301 and County Road 201. A check of Beard’s driving history determined his license had been suspended indefinitely because of two unpaid traffic citations in Alachua County. Additionally, his license had been cancelled, and he was issued an ID card on June 8, the report said.

A subsequent inventory of Beard’s vehicle yielded a small baggie of methamphetamine partially in the crease of the driver’s seat. A slightly larger baggie of methamphetamine sat on the driver’s side floorboard, the report said…
