Albany County leaders’ 2-year plan for south end building collapses

ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT)- Plans to remake a long-vacant former McDonald’s in Albany have stalled after two years of talks and competing ideas.

NewsChannel 13 talked with city and county leaders, who said they had spent the past two years trying to turn the former McDonald’s into something that would help the whole community. Leaders said the plan was to create a bus station and community space.

Earlier ideas for the building also failed to last. A neighborhood grocery store there went out of business in 2023, and now leaders say the site could be demolished and turned into a parking lot for MVP Arena…
