Gwinnett police expanding Community Service Aide program

The Gwinnett County Police Department’s Community Service Aide program is only a year old, but it’s already experiencing major growth.

County commissioners voted on Tuesday to add 12 new community service aide positions to the Gwinnett Police Department, and to pay for training and equipment. That expansion will bring the total number of aids up to 18.

“This program allows us to increase service levels, improve our response times and free officers to focus on high priority public safety responsibilities while utilizing taxpayer dollars in a more efficient and effective manner,” Gwinnett Police Chief J.D. McClure said…
