AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Amarillo police and firefighters responded Friday morning to the area of Canyon Drive and SE 24th Avenue, responding to an incident at a resulting in a loud noise heard in the area and what appeared to be a gas tank on a side roadway near the northbound off-ramp.
Police and firefighters were at the scene as of 10:30 a.m. on SE 24th Avenue, heading toward the turn onto Canyon Drive. According to officials at the scene, a medium-sized gas tank popped off a support at a home a person was working with its valves, resulting in a loud noise and the tank rolling onto the roadway.
No injuries or notable damage were reported as a result of the incident, and the scene was being cleared as of 10:45 a.m. However, drivers in the area should be aware of first responders and emergency vehicles possibly on or near the roadway.
