KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Kansas City is marking Juneteenth 2026 with a packed weekend of free festivals, live concerts, community gatherings and family events. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the JuneteenthKC Heritage Festival.
Juneteenth commemorates the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Texas learned of their freedom. It came more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
