NEW YORK, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Tony Awards is an event that every theatre kid dreams of attending and maybe even winning a Tony. For one Endicott native, those dreams became a reality.
On June 7, Endicott native Santino DeAngelo, joined his production team colleagues to accept the Tony for Best Revival of a Musical at the 79th Annual Tony Awards held at the iconic Radio City Music Hall.
Santino is a Broadway producer; playwright, composer and lyricist who along with his colleagues were part of the revival of the musical Ragtime. Ragtime is a musical from 1996 written by the late Playwright Terrence McNally with music by Stephen Flaherty and music by Lynn Ahrens. The revival, which is currently at the Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theater in New York had its debut in 2025 on October 16th with a final performance set for August 16th, 2026. At the award ceremony Ragtime also took home three additional Tonys, Joshua Henry for Best Performance by an Actor in a Lead Role in a Musical, Cassie Levy for Best Performance by an Actress in a Lead Role in a musical, and Kai Harada for Best Sound Design of a Musical.
Apart from his work on Ragtime, DeAngelo is the executive director of the Terrance McNeely Foundation and the associate producer at Tom Kirdahy Productions, which produced the 2025 revival.
