Lubbock loves two things: testing out new restaurants and immediately asking everyone else they know if they’ve also tried the new restaurant.
Get stoked. There’s a new one in town. Outlaws Grill is preparing for its grand opening on Saturday. After hearing about it from several friends and family members this week, I decided to dig in and find out what made it different from all the other restaurants fighting for our debit card information.
Back Story
This restaurant is family-owned (instant thumbs up), with roots in New Mexico. Their first restaurant opened in Eunice, before expanding to Hobbs, and now gracing our presence in Lubbock.
Fresh Food
Outlaws describes itself as a scratch kitchen, which means they aren’t feeding you stuff that comes in a bag and things with a million ingredients you can’t pronounce. They’re doing it fresh and homestyle. The owner also has a culinary degree and appears to be focusing a lot on the presentation, just as much as the food. quality.
Friends who attended the soft opening said the atmosphere was a bit more upscale than your average weeknight dinner spot, the seating was comfortable, and the food was nicely plated.
Steak and Lobster
A few menu items that got the best reviews from early bird guests included the chicken-fried steak and the lobster ravioli. One diner described the food presentation as something you were more likely to see in a fancier joint, but that it was still the home cooking most West Texans are looking for.
