DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The sun will be shining down on Dad for Father’s Day, or at least for part of the day. Clouds will start to increase during the afternoon ahead of our next major weather maker. There’s a slight chance of a late Sunday afternoon shower.
A large storm system, now centered over The Rockies, will move eastward toward the Miami Valley. It will arrive by mid to late Sunday evening. That’s when showers and thunderstorms will develop. Some storms could produce very heavy rainfall–from 2″ to 3″– which could lead to flash flooding. A Flash Flood Watch may be necessary for the Miami Valley from Sunday evening through Monday morning.
In the meantime, Sunday marks the official start of Summer. The summer solstice arrives at 4:24 a.m. This is the exact time when the Earth’s tilt on its axis will be closest to the sun in the northern hemisphere. We’ll see the most daylight of any other day this year…
