6 adults, 5 children displaced, 1 firefighter hurt after fire on near east side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — Six adults and five children have been displaced and a firefighter is injured after a heavy fire broke out at an apartment complex on Indy’s near east side on Saturday.

According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, around 12 p.m., crews were called to a heavy structure fire in the 2500 block of East 10th Street.

While most of the occupants were not inside the residence when the blaze began, a few were; fortunately, everyone was able to evacuate safely when smoke alarms alerted them.

One firefighter did suffer a slight heat injury and was transported to a local hospital to be checked out…
