FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WZTV) — A committee appointed by Franklin’s mayor in 2020 reached a milestone Saturday, unveiling two of three approved historical markers in downtown Franklin that name and memorialize African American victims of lynching in Williamson County, with a third marker honoring a Jewish lynching victim still to come.
Franklin has officially unveiled two permanent historical markers that acknowledge and memorialize African American victims of lynching during the Reconstruction and Jim Crow eras.
A third marker, focused on the lynching of a Jewish merchant, has also been approved but has not yet been installed because the building where it will be placed, Franklin’s new city hall, is still under construction…
