A fire that broke out at a cold-storage warehouse in Los Angeles’ Boyle Heights community on June 17 has triggered both local and state emergency declarations as crews continue battling the blaze.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass issued an emergency declaration on June 20. California Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in Los Angeles County that same day, saying in an X post that the state was “deploying specialized resources, supporting local firefighters and pre-positioning critical supplies to protect communities and accelerate recovery.”
