Tallahassee celebrates Juneteenth with first-ever awards show, 6th annual empowerment festival

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – People all across the country are celebrating Juneteenth, a day marking the end of slavery in the U.S., and one local organization is reminding the community of freedom, resilience and unity.

Friday was the first-ever Juneteenth Award Show, put on by the Capital City Cultural Community Outreach at Florida A&M University. There were nominees from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office to local organizations and churches.
