LEBANON, OH — Although part of a chain of Mexican restaurants we enjoyed a relaxed and delicious dinner a few Saturdays ago at EL PICANTE AUTHENTIC MEXICAN CUISINE located in Lebanon at 525 Genntown Road. Although sounding very formal, this restaurant, which is located in a strip center outside of the Lebanon Walmart, not only is friendly for families and dates, but it has delicious food.
Since we hadn’t been there for awhile, we were delighted to see the patio open for dining, and people out enjoying the warmer weather. We decided to dine inside this time and try the extensive beer list. It is a treat to have a local place with a lot of Mexican beers on draft, as well as, American standbys available on draft and bottled.
Along with a large menu to choose from, El Picante offers house specials too. We were really hungry so decided to try the mixed Fajitas (steak and chicken) for 2, which was $35.00. As expected it came with all the trimmings and a very generous portion of grilled meats and veggies. We found this to be so much that we took some home! Of the selections available, many of the dinner entrees are in the $14.99-$15.99 range and from seeing other orders, we found them to be generous portions as well.
The restaurant is close to Walmart. And, although we shop there often, we just came out for dinner that night… no shopping. After looking at thei reasonable menu, I realized this would be a great place to “grab lunch” another time, as they open at 11:00 a.m. daily.
TIPS:
- Parking is available and even though the lot looks fairly filled, we were pleasantly surprised to easily find a table inside. The restaurant is bigger inside than it looks from the street!
- In addition to the beer selections, there is also a full bar.
- Specials are available so be sure to check the sign when you come in or ask your server.
- El Picante also has carry out and delivery options.
- El Picante has restaurants in Maineville, Loveland-Miamiville, Loveland-Madeira in addition to the one in Lebanon-Genntown.
