Award honors longtime Meijer LPGA Classic volunteer

BELMONT, Mich. (WOOD) — The best female golfers in the world are back in Michigan for the Meijer LPGA Classic and so is the army of volunteers it takes to run this tournament.

“If we didn’t have the 1,500 volunteers, you know what? We couldn’t do it,” Executive Director Cathy Cooper told News 8.

Volunteers fill a variety of roles from holding up quiet signs, announcing players’ names on the first tee, keeping score and acting as standard bearers. It takes a team of volunteers to keep the driving range in order for the pros, too…
