Pigeon Forge to honor ‘military hometown heroes’ with banners for America 250

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WATE) — With the help of a grant, the City of Pigeon Forge is planning to honor military service members and veterans with banners along The Parkway as part of the city’s America 250 celebrations, and nominations are now being accepted.

According to the city, the “Hometown Hero Patriot Banner Program” will place approximately 42 street banners, each measuring 30” x 60”, that feature hometown heroes. The banners are designed to include a photo of a veteran or service member, along with their name and military service branch.

The banners will in place along The Parkway from July through Veterans Day 2026.

“We’re grateful to the Tennessee America 250 grant program and the Commission’s support of our local efforts to interpret and preserve Pigeon Forge’s rich heritage,” said Pigeon Forge City Manager David Wear. “Central to our country’s story is our distinguished veterans, and the banners produced with this grant will help commemorate Pigeon Forge’s heroes and recognize them for their sacrifices and service as we approach the 250th anniversary of our great country.”…
