Two More Tornadoes Confirmed in New York

Two more confirmed tornadoes have been added to the list from the latest round of severe weather in New York—and once again, both were quick hitters that moved through in a matter of minutes.

The National Weather Service has now confirmed an EF-0 tornado in Cortland County and an EF-1 tornado in Yates County, both of which touched down during storms on June 18.

Cortland County: Brief EF-0 Touchdown

In Cortland County, an EF-0 tornado with estimated winds around 80 mph tracked just under 2 miles, touching down west of Cortland shortly after 11:30 AM.

Damage was mostly trees—snapped and uprooted in patterns that helped survey teams confirm rotation.
