On Monday, June 22, the Manchester Police Department released the following statement:
“The Manchester Police Department extends its deepest condolences on the unexpected passing of Mr. Gary Zimmerman, “Mr. Z”, a dedicated school crossing guard who faithfully served our community for 13 years.
“Mr. Zimmerman’s commitment to the safety of our children and families did not go unnoticed—his presence at the College Street Elementary (Hwy. 41) crosswalk was a daily reassurance to parents and a friendly, familiar face to so many students. His service reflected a genuine care for others and a strong sense of duty that will be remembered and greatly missed.…
