VERO BEACH — Detectives continue to investigate a weekend incident where an unidentified man lay down on the railroad tracks and was struck by a Brightline train, police reports show.
The incident happened shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday, June 21 in the area of the 16th Street Railroad Crossing, west of U.S. 1 in Vero Beach. Police saw the train stopped about 200 yards south of the crossing.
Officers spoke with two train conductors, who both said they saw the man emerge from the bushes east of the railroad tracks. The train was headed southbound at 79 mph, reports show…
