Elk Grove Garbage rates to increase by 3%

Garbage rates in the city of Elk Grove will increase by 3% starting July 1, 2026. The city council approved the rate increase at its June 10 city council meeting.

According to the City Council agenda and staff report, “The City’s franchised residential solid waste hauler, Allied Waste Services of North America, LLC (d.b.a. “Republic Services”), is entitled to an annual rate adjustment per the current Franchise Agreement to cover inflationary increases in the cost to provide solid waste collection services. The annual adjustment is calculated based on the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) to reflect cost increases in Republic Services’ primary inputs (labor, fuel, landfill fees, government regulatory fees, and various county impact fees). This annual adjustment is capped at three percent (3%).”
