AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – As the Amarillo area continues to grow, TxDOT officials say major roadway projects currently under construction are designed to improve mobility and prepare for increased traffic across the region.
Two of the largest projects underway are the continued buildout of Loop 335 around Amarillo and the expansion of Interstate 27 between Amarillo and Canyon.
Texas Panhandle Investing in the future
According to Jason Britsch, public information officer for the TxDOT Amarillo District, Loop 335 has remained a long-term priority because it provides another route for drivers while helping reduce traffic on some of the region’s busiest roadways.
“So there’s a number of reasons why State Loop 335 is a priority here in the Amarillo District,” Britsch said. “One is the main reason for it is mobility. Traffic can get in and around the Amarillo District safely, and one of the other reasons is to relieve all the heavy traffic that goes on to I-40 and I-27.”…
