AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Fourth of July is right around the corner, which means communities across the High Plains are gearing up to celebrate America’s 250th birthday. Here’s a look at where to find festivities and fireworks shows in the region in 2026.
Amarillo College to host 8th annual Chalk It Up event in July
The City of Amarillo Parks and Recreation Department, in collaboration with Outdoor Amarillo, is hosting Red, White, & Boom, a special two-day event to celebrate Independence Day with the Amarillo community.
July 3, 2026 – Amarillo
- 9:30 p.m. – Ready, Set, GLOW! go-at-your-own-pace race
- John Stiff Park North
- Grab your glow gear, neon outfits, and brightest accessories for an evening of biking running or walking in the park without the worry of motorized traffic
- Event is free and open to all ages
- Parking is available north of the park off Parkside Dr. behind the fire station
July 4, 2026 – Amarillo
- 3 p.m. – Sand Volleyball recreational tournament at John Stiff
- $50 per team, limit of 15 teams
- 4-player teams
- Register here
- 5:00 pm – Eat Street, Kids Zone, and Beergarden open
- Enjoy food from over 20 different local food trucks along the west road of the park
- Kids Zone includes yard games, face-painting, a magician, and more. Area is fenced in, with CPR certified recreation staff.
- Crack open a cold one by purchasing drinks at Beergarden. Beverages purchased are not required to remain within the Beergarden. Must be 21+ to purchase.
- Live performances:
- 6 p.m. – Stealing Handshakes
- 8 p.m. – The Droptines
- 9:45 p.m. – Fireworks and Drone Show
- Look to the sky after the concert for an incredible spectacle of over 200 drones choreographed to display images celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence
- Tune into KGNC 97.9 to hear the soundtrack of both the fireworks and the drone show
July 4, 2026 – Canyon
- Lions Club Pancake Breakfast
- 7 a.m. – 10 a.m.
- Cole Community Center
- $7 per person
- Fourth of July Fair on the Square
- 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Downtown Canyon Square
- Over 100 vendors, food trucks, and activities for the kids
- Canyon’s Independence Day Parade
- 10 a.m.
- Starts on the east end of 4th Avenue at the First United Bank Center and proceeds west past the Downtown Square
- Theme is ‘Rooted in Freedom’
- Independence Day Fireworks
- Paul Lindsey Park at dark
July 4, 2026 – Fritch
- The City of Fritch’s 5th Annual Independence Day Celebration – Freedom 250 Weekend
- Parade
- 9:30 a.m.
- Starts at the Fritch City Park and ends at Hoyne Ave.
- Turtle Race
- 10 a.m. – $5 entry
- Fish Fry Beans and Cornbread
- 11 a.m.
- Chicken Poo Bingo
- 1:30 p.m.
- $10 per square or 3 for $15
- Vendors and live music
- 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- Fireworks over Lake Meredith
- Approximately 9 p.m.
