Blue Devils Split with De Pere, Rally for 19–13 Blowout in Game 2

MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Post 54 Blue Devils dropped a tough one to start Sunday’s doubleheader against De Pere Varsity Legion 19U, then came back to win the second game in a big way. After falling 3–2 in the opener, Marshfield erupted for 19 runs in Game 2, putting up a 19–13 final to split the day.

Game 1: De Pere 3, Marshfield 2 — June 21

Marshfield built an early 2–0 lead and Mac Konieczny was dealing on the mound. He threw five innings, struck out eight, and gave up just one earned run. De Pere tied it in the fourth, then pushed two more across in the seventh off Owen Griesbach to take the win.

Konieczny was the story offensively, too — he went 3-for-3 with an RBI and handled both sides of the ball as the starter. Griesbach added an RBI double. But Marshfield stranded runners and never added to the early lead, and one bad inning from Griesbach in relief was the difference.

De Pere got the win from Caleb Scheller, who closed out the final inning without allowing a run. Ryland Nowak threw six innings and held the Blue Devils to two runs on eight hits…
