White executives and segregated parking: Former JMAA board member testifies in airport takeover case

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A former commissioner of the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) was the first to take the stand on Monday, where he refuted claims that the state took over the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers Airport because it was poorly run.

JMAA and the city of Jackson are suing the state in U.S. District Court to block the implementation of S.B. 2612, the airport takeover bill passed back in 2016.

The city and JMAA argue that the bill is another example of the state’s discriminatory acts against Jackson and should be voided under the U.S. Constitution…
