SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Monday, Utah! Our Monday afternoon brings plenty of sunshine, but it will likely be obscured by lots of smoke and haze along the Wasatch Front.
Today’s weather: 90s and lower 100s
Winds have switched from out of the northeast to southwesterly, bringing the plume and flow north and east. Daytime highs will warm into the lower 90s across northern Utah. Highs climb into the 90s and lower 100s across far southern Utah.
Tomorrow’s weather: Code orange
Tuesday will bring the return of critical fire conditions across southern Utah. A Red Flag Warning has been issued for most southern Utah including the Henry Mountains, Color Country Mountains, and Grand Staircase areas. These locations will see gusty winds which will combine with very dry air and dry fuels to create a dangerous fire situation.

Northern Utah will enjoy mostly sunny conditions, but more of the smoke and haze will filter through creating more code orange: unhealthy air quality for sensitive groups. If you suffer from respiratory illnesses, plan to limit your time out in the elements or wear a mask.
High temperatures will warm into the mid 90s along the Wasatch Front Tuesday afternoon. Highs likely climb into the lower 100s across southwest Utah.
Looking ahead: Dry t-storms
Minor changes develop by Wednesday as an area of high pressure slides to our southeast. This will allow for the potential for a little moisture to rotate around the high pressure across southern Utah. The air at the surface will be very dry, but a few mainly dry thunderstorms may develop across the higher elevations of southern Utah.
These storms will likely produce more in the way of gusty winds and lightning as opposed to actual decent rainfall. Highs midweek warm into the mid to upper 90s across the Wasatch Front with highs around 105° across southwest Utah…
