WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Food delivery drivers are opposing a proposed 20-cent tax on third-party food and grocery deliveries in the District.
“Adding this tax not only hurts the consumer, it also hurts the drivers. There will be less orders. If you are doing it full-time like I am, you depend on every order you get to have an income,” said Collier White, a delivery driver with DoorDash.
White was one of several people who delivered a petition with nearly 600 signatures asking the council to drop the fee from the 2027 budget…
