Officials Urge Caution Around Downed Trees And Power Lines After Storms

Takoma Park Police are reminding residents to use extreme caution when dealing with storm damage and to call 911 for any storm-related emergencies involving injuries, trees that have fallen into structures, or downed power lines that may still be energized.

Officials warn that fallen trees and branches can create serious hazards long after severe weather has passed. Residents should avoid touching or attempting to remove branches that are near sagging or downed power lines and instead report the issue to their utility provider immediately. Even lines that appear inactive may still be carrying electricity.
