DC Weather: Tuesday showers give way to the best weather of the week

WASHINGTON (7News) — A cold front will sweep through the area on Tuesday morning, bringing periods of rain, scattered showers, and a few thunderstorms. While much of the day will not be a washout, anyone heading out during the morning or around lunchtime should keep an umbrella handy.

The good news is that conditions steadily improve during the afternoon as the front pushes east and drier air begins moving in.

By Tuesday evening, skies will begin to clear, and humidity levels will drop, setting the stage for a much more comfortable night.

Wednesday looks like the pick of the week. Sunshine, lower humidity, and light winds will make for a beautiful late June day. Afternoon temperatures will top out in the lower to middle 80s, but without the oppressive humidity that has been common lately. It is the type of weather that reminds everyone why not every summer day has to feel uncomfortable.

The pleasant stretch continues into Thursday, although a gradual warming trend begins. Sunshine will mix with some clouds as winds shift back to the south. Temperatures will climb into the middle and upper 80s, while humidity levels slowly begin increasing during the afternoon.

By Friday, summer makes a stronger return. High temperatures will push close to 90 with noticeably higher humidity. Most of the day looks dry, but an approaching cold front will bring the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms later in the day or Friday evening. Forecast models continue to differ on the exact timing, so confidence remains lower regarding when storms may arrive…
