NORTH CAROLINA — Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms developed across the Triad late this morning and are expected to push east over the next few hours. The activity remains hit-or-miss, but rain chances may increase for parts of the Triangle and Eastern North Carolina. The main goal for many areas is beneficial rain without storms becoming severe.
Showers Develop Across the Triad Late This Morning
Radar around 10:02 a.m. showed scattered showers and at least one thunderstorm developing across the Triad. Activity was visible near and west of Greensboro, with nearby areas such as Mount Airy, Reidsville, Eden, Asheboro, and Danville also seeing scattered returns.
The storms are not widespread, but they are organized enough to track as they move east. Some pockets of heavier rain were showing up in stronger cells west and northwest of Greensboro.
Rain Chances Shift Toward the Triangle
The showers and storms are expected to push east through the next few hours. That brings the Triangle, including Raleigh and surrounding communities, into the area to watch for possible rain.
The forecast message notes that rain will remain hit-or-miss, so not everyone will see measurable rainfall. Still, some communities may get lucky with a passing shower or storm.
Severe Threat Not the Main Concern Right Now
The current update does not show a major severe weather signal with this activity. However, storms will be watched to see if any cells try to ramp up later in the day…
