A Carson City man is facing an attempted murder charge after what authorities describe as a brutal attack on his domestic partner during a traffic stop in south Sacramento, an incident that left the woman hospitalized and a California Highway Patrol officer slightly injured.
CHP officials say the alleged assault happened on the evening of June 18 on State Route 99, just south of Dillard Road near Elk Grove. The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Ricardo Gonzalez Gurrola of Carson City, Nevada, was taken into custody after a struggle and later arraigned Tuesday in Sacramento Superior Court.
According to FOX40, officers stopped the vehicle in south Sacramento after receiving reports of a violent incident on the highway. The outlet reports that the female victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment while investigators processed the scene.
